The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature Wedding

Courtney and Justin are married! They hosted the most romantic outdoor wedding at the stunning Bishop Museum of Science and Nature in Bradenton FL. It was filled with an elegant color palette of blush, light pinks, and ivory featuring gold accents, vintage inspired book decor, and the most romantic reception under the stars. I adored capturing Courtney and Justin’s wedding day, and their love story. They are such a sweet couple and I know that they have many happy years together ahead of them! 

Their Love Story

After meeting at USF, Courtney and Justin never thought their random chats would amount to anything. However, after leaving school, they matched on Bumble! Despite some initial nerves about responding to the match, it all worked out so they could plan their first date at Hyde Park. Now, they’re getting married! Nearly 5 years after their first date, Justin proposed while both of their families were visiting the Tampa area. Vintage Wedding Day in Florida

When Courtney and Justin began planning their wedding day, they knew that they wanted to lean into their love of all things vintagev and their love for books. Their favorite things created an elegant celebration at the Bishop Museum of Science and Nature. One of the things I loved most about Courtney and Justin’s wedding day was how they kept the focus on what matters most: their relationship and love. The two decided to do a first look and privately read their vows together before their ceremony in the courtyard. It was a tender moment reserved for them in the middle of such a busy day. 

The museum is absolutely gorgeous and I found so many beautiful nooks and crannies to use for their portraits before heading back to the courtyard for their reception. As I mentioned, Courtney and Justin loved the twinkling lights so they planned an al fresco reception under the stars. More vintage decor lined the tables and they even had a traditional heart cake inspired by vintage wedding desserts! 

I adored their first dance, to “Take Care” by Beach House. It was a heartfelt moment and you could feel the love between them both! From there, the reception went into full swing with both a DJ and two live musicians – all coming together with a private last dance for them to end the evening. Courtney and Justin said farewell to their guests during a bubble exit: such a perfect end to a beautiful reception! 

Weddings at The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature

When planning a wedding, one of the most important decisions you will make is where to host your wedding celebration. Florida (and Tampa specifically!) is full of so many unique venues, which is wonderful but can also make the decision difficult. For Courtney and Justin, they chose The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature because the moment they began their tour, they had such a good feeling about the space. It was only the second venue they visited, but much like relationships: when you know, you know! Courtney and Justin fell in love with the twinkling lights over the Courtyard on their tour. It was important that they featured it at their own wedding reception. 

The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature is located in Bradenton FL and was established in 1947. It’s a truly beautiful space that will wow your guests. The museum is known for it’s stunning architecture as well as the unique artifacts inside. I hope that this will not be my last wedding here. It’s truly a beautiful venue!
