Katey and Trenton are some of the most down to earth people I’ve met and it was truly an honor and joy to capture their big day. I love when I get to meet my couples in person the first time and get to know them. Once I met Katey and Trenton, I seriously began to count down the days until their Sarasota Yacht Club wedding day because I just wanted to spend more time with them! They hosted a gorgeous wedding day in Sarasota FL this year – it was well worth the wait! I’m so happy for you, Katey and Trenton. Thank you for asking me to be a part of your beautiful wedding day. 

Their Love Story 

Katey moved to Tampa 2 years ago for work. She was living with a roommate and her brother and all three of them attended church together, which is where she met Trenton. Trenton and her brother actually became good friends and her brother tried to convince Katey to go on a date with him. It took 6 months, but Katey and Trenton finally went on a date! They enjoyed dinner out and then watched planes land during the sunset at Tampa’s airport. It was a really fun, perfect first date! 

Katey and Trenton had built a good friendship before they began to date and their relationship continued to grow organically and naturally. Before long, they started talking about their future. Katey and Trenton had looked at rings, but Katey didn’t know when it was coming. Trenton took Katey to the beach for a picnic and while they were taking pictures with the sunset, he proposed. She was SO surprised. It was super sweet!!  

Romantic Sarasota Yacht Club Wedding Day

Katey and Trenton planned a truly beautiful and romantic wedding day. Sarasota Yacht Club is elegant and has the best views of the waterfront! They chose to have a string quartet for their ceremony, which really brought an extra special feeling to the whole moment. The elegance didn’t stop there, though. Katey and Trenton divided on a gold and ivory color scheme at the reception, which looked amazing with all of the candles. 

Their wedding day was elegant but also a lot of fun! Katey’s father’s speech had us all laughing out loud during the reception. Plus, her sister-in-law and another bridesmaid made up a fun song for their speech, too. They took Meghan Trainor’s “Dear Future Husband” and changed it to “Dear Katey Holmquist”. It was hilarious and seriously such a good time! 

Family-Centered Wedding Ceremony

 Katey and Trenton’s family and friends were the kindest people. Every part of the day, they were so welcoming but their involvement in the ceremony really stood out to me. Honestly, their ceremony was probably my favorite part of the whole day! It was as if time stood still and for that time, everyone could be really intentional and in the moment. It was emotive and heartfelt. During the ceremony, the families of Katey and Trenton actually came together, holding hands and praying over the newlyweds. It was so beautiful. You could feel how much love and emotion was in that moment. Not only that, but Trenton’s father actually gave a speech during the ceremony. He reminded them that the Lord should be the center of their marriage and a couple that prays together, stays together. Katey and Trenton really honored God throughout their day – everyone could feel it. 

Chic Wedding Day Looks

Both Katey and Trenton looked amazing on their wedding day in Sarasota, FL. Trenton wore a classic black suit. He looked SO chic and it was the perfect look for their waterside wedding. Katy’s wedding gown was stunning. It was off-the-shoulder with sweet floral lace sleeves and the lace details continued down her bodice and skirt overlay. I love when wedding gowns have such sweet details. She looked amazing and I loved documenting all of those sweet details. When thinking about the looks for their wedding day, I have to mention Katey’s bridesmaids! Their gorgeous rust gowns brought a wonderful pop of color to the day!
