Congratulations to Danica and Matt! They celebrated their engagement with a gorgeous (but hot!) sunflower farm engagement session here in Tampa, Florida. I’m so happy they asked me to photograph this special time in their life. Danica and Matt are seriously the sweetest and I had a joy exploring the fields with them both during their Tampa sunflower farm engagement session. 

Their Love Story

Danica and Matt have been together for 14 years. They met while they were in high school, through mutual friends! Danica and Matt told me they were friends for awhile but always had crushes on each other. It took them about a year to make anything official, but once they did – the rest was history! Danica was a junior and Matt a senior, but they knew they were going to do whatever it took to be together. I just think that’s so beautiful!!

A Christmas Proposal 

After being together for many years and getting their careers and home established, Danica and Matt got engaged. They’d been traveling a lot – and Danica thought Matt might propose on one of their trips, but he never did. Instead, in December 2020 at a Christmas party for her office, Matt proposed! It was such a surprise and definitely caught Danica off guard. But it was so worth it! 

Tampa Sunflower Farm Engagement Photos

The day of our session at the sunflower fields was hot. Typical Florida weather – sunny and warm. But, Danica and Matt handled it like pros! They were all smiles, cuddling among the tall sunflowers and they even brought their two dogs with them for photos, too. Their pups stole the show for a little – they were just too adorable!! The sunflower field was such a great location for portraits in Tampa. It was unique, but it also gave us some beautiful props to hold during their photos. I loved having Danica pose with the flowers so we could show off her engagement ring! It’s one of the reasons I love props – it gives your hands something to do to help you feel more relaxed and at ease during our time together. 

Congratulations again, Danica and Matt! I’m so happy for your both as you begin this next chapter as an engaged couple – and soon to be married one! You’re perfect for each other and I know this is such an exciting time for you. Enjoy a little look back at this summer session!
