It was a wedding that was fated since the bride, Hannah, watched and admired the romcom “Father of the Bride” when she was young. She loved the movie growing up- after all, who can’t get some laughs out of Steve Martin? When the Banks family returned to our screens for the special event “Father of the Bride 3 (ish),” Hannah knew it was a sign. The premise of the story was that Matty and his new girlfriend didn’t want to let COVID get in the way of their wedding, so they had a spontaneous one online with all their family watching.
Although Hannah and her groom, Pedro, planned their wedding a little more, they didn’t let COVID postpone their wedding.
Capturing this wedding was so special to me because I’m actually friends with the Bride! Hannah and I used to work together at a marketing company a few years ago.
Hannah & Pedro’s Love Story
Like many love stories start nowadays, they met on a dating app. Hannah liked his foreign flare, but it was Pedro who took the first step and messaged her, despite his English not being perfect.
Shortly after, they scheduled a date at a local bar. They had an immediate spark which led to their first kiss after dinner. They spent the rest of the night enjoying each other’s company at more bars. On their second date, Pedro asked Hannah to be his girlfriend, and since then, they’ve been inseparable.
The Proposal
Pedro had planned to go ring shopping without Hannah. The day he wanted to go, she wasn’t feeling well that morning, so he thought it would be the perfect opportunity.
When Pedro returned, he told her to get dressed in something pretty, put on a song, asked her to dance, and popped the question!
Hyatt Regency Sarasota Wedding
Some of my favorite things to photograph at Hannah’s wedding were the wedding details. Hannah and Pedro opted to incorporate family heirlooms into the wedding which made the day even more special and memorable.
Once they were ready, Hannah and Pedro made their way outside to do a first look! Their faces beamed with happiness and love when Pedro turned around and saw his bride.
Right before the ceremony, it started to rain, but as this couple has shown off, they don’t let much get in the way of their love, not to mention the superstition that rain on your wedding day is good luck! The ceremony that was supposed to be outdoors, was moved to the boathouse which was equally as charming as you could still see those beautiful Sarasota palm trees.
And the rain stopped just in time for us to capture some Husband and Wife Portraits outdoors. The Hyatt Regency Sarasota has some beautiful greenery and we were able to get some pictures under the arbor they were initially supposed to exchange their vows at. We also found a building that had beautiful Spanish/Mediterranean architecture that provided an excellent backdrop for pictures!
Something I loved about Hannah and Pedro’s wedding was the simplicity and elegance of their wedding. Their color palette was white, black, and red and the beautiful bride had a red rose bouquet that truly popped against her wedding dress.
For the reception, everyone moved to the grand ballroom. Roses were incorporated again as the centerpieces of the tables. Their cake was three-tiered with a topper that said “Te Amo” and they danced the night away in celebration of the new union!
I absolutely loved seeing Hannah again and capturing such a special day in her life and Pedro’s, and I definitely felt at home at their American Hispanic Wedding.
If you’re having a Hispanic or bilingual wedding, I speak Spanish fluently and would love to capture it. Click here to get in contact about your wedding photography.
Hannah y Pedro, muchas felicidades en su union!
Thank you for allowing me to celebrate with you and capture all the memories of your big day! I wish you many blessings as you begin your new journey as Husband and Wife. Much love! <3
